Read what one of our clients, Nancy, had to say about her experience with the women in their 40’s photoshoot and why she wanted to be part of this confidence-boosting experience!

A Little About Nancy’s Background and Life

Nancy embodies a global identity, born to immigrant Egyptian parents in the U.S. and transplanted to Paris at six months old. Her life has been a tapestry of travels, crisscrossing Europe, the U.S., and the Middle East.

From high school to university, including design school in Milan during her 20s, she found herself embraced by diverse cultures. Her job took her on a whirlwind journey across the globe, a testament to the wanderlust instilled by her family’s cross-continental roots that have shaped her since conception.

Q+A with Nancy:

Why was being part of the women in their 40’s photoshoot important to you?

Incredibly blessed in life, I’m grateful for all the changes that have occurred. I applied for the 40 over 40 because I was going through many major life changes. I started a small business, my eldest son was heading off to University and our world was turning upside down, or so it felt. Truthfully, it was the beginning of new adventures, new friendships and new endeavors!

What is your profession?

Chief Business Development officer in an NGO

What are your achievements and hobbies?

My proudest achievement, which I can’t take credit for, they are just my blessings, are my children. I love the work that I do and the ability to be a part of an organization that creates opportunities across the globe.  My hobbies are yoga, walking (newly formed early pandemic days) and travel.

What is your greatest accomplishment?

My greatest career accomplishment was creating an opportunity for the acquisition of a $500 Million company in the UK. My proudest accomplishment was creating a small business, focused on women’s plus size clothing and building an inclusive community and clothes that people felt good about!

What is your personal motto?

Every new day is a gift, do the best you can to make of it what you need.

What is something that matters to you?

You are given what you can handle. Keep pushing through.

What quote defines you?

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” Hellen Keller

What advice would you give to your 18 year old self?

Keep believing in yourself and believing you can do anything you want – because you can!

What would you like your legacy to be?

Loving mother and proud daughter of immigrants, she fiercely fought to lift all!

What are 3 words that define you?

Wanderer. Love. Positive.

Have you been professionally photographed before? By whom? Describe your experience.

Yes – Fizzah! She was incredible! I don’t typically enjoy being photographed, but I love the documentation, as I tell my children, one day when I can’t remember anything these will be my memories. Fizzah made the process so easy, seamless and natural, and we LAUGHED!

When you look at your final portraits, how do feel about yourself? What words would you use to describe the woman in the portrait?

I felt beautiful, and this is not a word I typically use to describe myself. I felt like I had overcome a fear, of not seeming vain. The woman in the portrait seems mature, alive and has scars that sometimes aren’t showing in the pictures, but she’s fighting on!
